Four decades

When someone turns 40 Venezuelans say, ‘Congratulations! You’ve made it to the fourth floor!’ But Ivan Aristeguieta isn’t sure he wants to get out of the lift.  The Venezuelan-born, Australian-based comedian has performed sold-out shows across the world, and is now in New Zealand to perform The Fourth Floor, a crisis/celebration about turning 40. With four decades of life experience under his belt, we expected some very wise answers to our very serious questions.

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car?
Why is this Uber driver driving my car?

What were you like at 15?
I was sunshine, all sunshine

What quote or saying do people say that you think is complete BS?
‘Be yourself’ it’s the easiest thing to say and the hardest thing to do. Who am I? Nobody knows the answer to that.

What’s something your brain tries to make you do and you have to will yourself not to do it?
Social media browsing, naps and punching people who feed their dogs a vegan diet.

Where were you 3 hours ago?
Napping.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Cause it is an impulsive senseless animal.

Describe your show in 5 words: One hilarious solid comedy hour!

Ivan performs The Fourth Floor in Wellington on May 12 and Auckland from May 14-18 as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo.
